New Years Resolutions

Setting our sights on newness, new ideas, new premises, new experiences and a new life is an amazing thing!

Our society here in the U.S. has trained us to look deeply at what we'd like to experience "new" every year in January.

This is good because it keeps us in check about where we want our lives to go and utilizes our free will with awareness, however, what if I told you that you're a new person every single day?

Every time you make a decision, it changes you. Every time you process an emotion, it changes you, every time you react or respond to a situation differently, you literally become a different person, you change your personal reality and therefore change your external reality and your personality. So keep in mind that you are always becoming a new person as long as you're exploring, aware of, paying attention to, and re-writing your internal world.

If you're doing this internal work, your external world is constantly re-aligning with the changes you make thus, keeping you moving into the reality of your desires and your highest calling.

There are two things that come to mind when setting sights on changes every January. The first is that since the past and present don't really exist, the only time we can ever make positive and long lasting change - is in the Now. Right now. Therefore, essentially "waiting" for another day, another moment, or another year, is simply putting off what you desire. Long story short, start this moment, right now - and stay consistent. Starting and staying consistent is most important as with these two in play, everything else will fall into place.

The second is that seasons matter- we are a part of nature and nature is a part of us. Look around and experience for a moment the season you're in as you're setting new desires for yourself. Here in the U.S. for example, it's winter in January. And winter is a time and place for rest, healing, renewal, and that oh so deep place we often find ourselves when reflecting on our internal world. We question our beliefs here, we dig deep and isolate more, we sleep, we recover, and we purge much unneeded emotional weight during winter.

A lot of spiritual growth, exploration, evolution, and discovery happens in this cold season. This season is the season of the hummingbird, that long journey where you find strength you didn't know you had and you find yourself traveling through one's spirit. These days, are the cold and dark days, so if you're finding yourself lacking the energy to ACT and take ACT(tion), it's because the sun is around the bend, when the season of creation, Spring comes peeking around. Spring is the days of the Serpent which brings the kundalini energy, wisdom, and the creative principle energy force in to help you create and push you to action with ease.

Don't let the season hold you back. Keep going and stay consistent but remember to rest, and give yourself grace and compassion as you travel through the winter journey, the journey of your spirit.
